No, not that one. Let's be honest, when we need inspiration, the first place we go is our music library. So let's try something a little bit different. My music library is no help to me, but maybe it can be for someone else. Here's how this thing works:
1) Comment to this post, and I'll give you a prompt in the form of [lyrics from] whatever song shuffles up next on whatever music player I've got going at the time.
2) Turn on the music player of your choice to shuffle, post this to your own journal and dole out prompts. No, you can't hide your shameful music. If it shuffles up, that's the gig.
3) Write/draw/whatever way you create for the prompt you've been given: post it. Again, no hiding the shame. Even if you think it's awful, post it.
4) Link your finished product to the prompt comment, because it's always lovely to see the results.'
I got "If that mockingbird don't sing, Papa's gonna buy you a diamond ring', and since I have thoughts for a drabble, there will be one, but you'll understand why that's not yet. However, I thought I'd post this now, as earlier in the weekend is usually best for fun writing memes than later.
(I'll give you lyrics as a prompt, although I'll try to link to the song as well, but in some cases, that won't really work out. Well, either that or I'll skip things.)

Date: 2012-03-09 07:56 pm (UTC)(a) I already have a plague (collective noun) of plot bunnies - starting five fics in as many days is a sure sign of overload!
(b) 99% of my music is instrumental since I nearly always listen to classical - and I'm not a big fan of either choral or opera (apart from Karl Jenkins' The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, which is the only choral music I listen to regularly).

Date: 2012-03-10 06:28 am (UTC)Hole in My Pocket by Sheryl Crow (and, no, no idea what's with the cute cartoon thing that comes with it). You're safe to have the song, but in case you prefer specific lyrics, "You can tell me the world is round and I'll prove to you it's square."

Date: 2012-03-11 09:11 am (UTC)And... you know how you apologised for yours? Well, um, this is what randomly came up for you: It Doesn't Matter Anymore by Buddy Holly. If you want specific lyrics: "Well, you go your way, and I'll go mine/ Now and forever, till the end of time."
(Why, yes, I do have a slight thing for 50s music.)

Date: 2012-03-18 12:41 pm (UTC)Song for Whoever by The Beautiful South. (I don't think I'll need to give specific lyrics for this. Whatever you get overall, or jumps out at you, as the meme was supposed to be!)

Date: 2012-03-20 01:03 pm (UTC)...for the RIDICULOUSLY INFECTIOUS EARWORM!
The first thing that jumped out at me was eighties pencilcases... hmm, I wonder where that could lead...

Date: 2012-03-20 05:36 pm (UTC)"I love you from the bottom of my pencil case..." is a line that explains a lot about what I like about the Beautiful South. :-)
