Fandom Snowflake Day 2

I'm going to do the
snowflake_challenge! (This is great because last year this time, I was much too unwell. \o/) However, since my last proper post was about Yuletide Reveal and therefore four obscure fics by me, I thought it seemed much nicer and more sensible to swap Days 1 and 2 around, but I shall do 1 tomorrow. (The rules are very laid back, so I feel sure that'll be okay.)
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.
And, actually, I do - or I certainly used to do - a lot of reccing, and mostly in obscure fandoms, so stuff that this once. Here are three different things and while lots of people will know about them already, there's always someone who doesn't and is missing out:
1. The Cake!fic series (All Cake and No Clothes)
Once upon a time (or so the tale goes), in the DW forum called Death by Aspirin,
clocketpatch made an innocent typo. Before you could blink, there were multiple resulting fics involving Ten, naked (but for Three's cloak), chained to Three and covered in cake, all due to the plotting of the Master.
So, even though I own this series (on Teaspoon, did you know, you can create a series and then put anybody's fics in it you like? It's brilliant. Just think of the chaos/annoyance/inappropriate collections you could cause. Er. Don't actually do that, though...) it in fact contains a varied assortment of hilarious and wonderful fics on the same premise written by some of my very favourite DW authors. You'll find very little smut - it's amazing, isn't it? However, you will find Ten, naked, chained to Three, covered in cake. You will also find a giant lobster, poetry, multiple Masters, the Rani, UNIT, dark!cake!fic, and the New Who Doctors continually robbing Three for spare parts.
What's more, if you feel inspired, you could write your own version. (Any fic even remotely resembling the prompt is fine and I know people were thinking of branching out into other Doctors and Masters and maybe even as yet untried cake flavours...)
2.
sallymn's icons. So pretty and funny, basically. If you like icons and haven't yet rifled through her helpfully categorised collection here, then you really should. Main fandoms are: Blake's 7, Primeval, Doctor Who, The Sentinel, LOTR, Criminal Minds, SG1, Magnificent 7, White Collar, Top Gear & Farscape, but there's quite a few non-fannish writing/reading themed icons, or amusing/pretty ones and some extra random fandom icons. (If I ever had enough icon spaces, I would have all the B7 icons by her that I could. And I swear I got into Primeval mostly for the icons.)
3. I've recently been watching a lot of
such_heights's fanvids. I think most people will probably know these, but they're gorgeous. The reason I picked on them just now is that they're not only very well done, but each seems to convey a lot of love for the source(s) used and that makes me happy. Enough To Go By (DW, Amy Pond S5-6) and Can't Go Back Now (BtVS, Willow S1-4) I've been rewatching a lot especially, but they all seem to be lovely.
(I think I managed to sneakily get as many recs as I could into three there, didn't I?)

Date: 3 Jan 2013 09:40 pm (UTC)I did do naked!Five in carrot cake once, but it seems I never uploaded it to Teaspoon, only AO3. (Of course, AO3 has a 'Cake' tag. AO3 has tags for everything).
