Writing and reccing and things...

Well, I have now finished with reccing for calufraxand while I was looking forward to it more than not, I had no idea that it would turn out to be quite so rewarding, but so it was. I'm still a little regretful of the 4 fics that came close, but choices have to be made.

Also congratulations to persiflage_1and primsongwho are both winners in the Children of Time Awards, so well done them! I managed to make runner up, but I'm still too pleased with the whole reccing thing to take in anything else just yet. However, it means people must have bothered to vote for them & given the odd pair of fics, well... There were some wonderful fics on those lists, so I should at least give a little hop or jump or something presently.

On the writing front, my tardis_genstory is progressing nicely. (Aside from the whole question of whether it'll be what the person wanted, but minor issues aside...). I am just annoyed at being unable to hop and down wildly with glee on here because given X situation, I have found the perfect name for Y. Which I have. And right names are important. So I shall have to keep smiling strangely to myself in the meantime. (I should add, I'm not wantonly messing with the prompt; it's a matter of a) lovely, lovely prompt that had to be done and b) historical fact so big I can't ignore it. But whether my answer to the question will be what was wanted, I'll find out when it's posted. Hence the writing of 3, once I think of a scenario. Because, frankly, 3 ought to be written anyway.) Er-hmm, enough of coded nothings, but you'll understand once the reveal is made.

And I'm also making a proper start on the 1851 story at long, long last. Aside from trying to hard to make my first sentence too long and descriptive. (Now it isn't. I ended up to go back to short with "London: shining capital of half the known world." I knew I had problems when it sounded as if London was a person...)

Oh, look, tomorrow, I have to go back to work. And do my NVQ Assessor course and all. *Sigh*

I'm rather fond of that one. It started out as an idle thought and turned out much better than I expected. I'm just slightly sheepish that my other nomination was the Zoe one, which was a lot dafter!! ;-)

There are so many fic I want to check out right now (including the ones you've recced, plus the Children of Time winners) and sadly have had no time right now. I'm going to have to bookmark many stories in the meantime and hopefully my schedule will be calmer when the tardis_gen fic are posted!

Oh, I know. There's still some longer fics I'm meaning to get around to reading. I think maybe I'll just print them off one day & that way I will!!

Happy happy for you! If I had a lesser conscience and was into stuffing ballot boxes, I would've voted for you multiple times just because you so often have such original ideas that make me think (like extending Zoe only to find out she wouldn't have 'fit'... or removing *gasp* the Doctor to leave Liz and the Brig on their own.)

Looking forward to your gen fic! My own is...uh, floundering. In fact, I've scrapped it and had to start over because it transmogrified into a political murder mystery right before my eyes and I didn't want to write one of those right now.

Aw, thanks. Glad you have principles - I would expect no less! :-) I was so glad to see you'd won. So often with any awards (no matter what for) it always seems to be the very one you didn't want to get it that does. Having said that I was impressed with most of the nominations I read. So: yay!

I must watch myself here, but I feel safe in saying that you will like my tardis_gen even if no one else does. ;-)

A political murder mystery? That is some transformation. I worry that I'm having too much fun and I shall burst before April 1st, but I expect I'll get fed up with the thing by then!! Also re said prompt vs awkward hist. fact, the recipient may not be quite as pleased...

Hey, congratulations! And the tardis_gen thing sounds intriguing... one of the (minor) reasons I avoid Who fandom at large is all the omg!dr/rose omg!dr/jack/master/etc. (The major reason, of course, being that it is so huge it would swamp my tiny seafaring craft like a tidal wave.)

Heh. But being so wide, you can snaffle out some tiny bit of the fandom and sit there, Plenty of people do, you know... ;-) And I guide my own raft carefully around the big Ships, too.

(Plus, as you'll have noticed, you can cross it with anything by the simple device of 'The TARDIS lands...' The bonus for fic writing is unending.)
