Picked up from sallymn and astrogirl2:
Choose fifteen characters. Then put your playlist on shuffle. Your first song with lyrics is your first character, and so on. For each song, choose lyrics that resonate with the corresponding character.
The list:
1. Ruth Evershed (Spooks)
2. Silver (S&S)
3. Sixth Doctor
4. Ace McShane (DW)
5. Lynda Day (Press Gang)
6. Vila Restal (B7)
7. Sapphire (S&S)
8. Barbara Wright (DW)
9. Leela (DW)
10. Dayna Mellanby (B7)
11. Regina Mills (OUaT)
12. Miss Marple
13. Clara Oswald
14. Kenny Phillips
15. Kathryn Janeway
1. Ruth Evershed: If You Could Read My Mind - Gordon Lightfoot
When you reach the part where the heartaches come
The hero would be me
But heroes often fail
And you won't read that book again
Because the ending's just too hard to take
2. Silver: Not Like The Other Girls - The Rasmus
Not the easiest one, heh, but, actually:
When you have loved and you've lost someone
You know what it feels like to lose
3. Sixth Doctor: All Fall Down - Ultravox
I couldn't decide between these two (and I thought this one'd be impossible). The second reminded me of some of his speeches:
When I was a boy there's a dream that I had
That a war if it's fought was for good against bad
And I woke up to find that the world had gone mad
OR
No sun for a world that once stood so tall
No wind's going to blow and no rain's going to fall
No flowers for graves, in fact no graves at all
4. Ace McShane: Only Time - Enya
Time will tell, I suppose, it always does...
And who can say where the road goes
Where the day flows, only time
Who knows? Only time
5. Lynda Day: Need You Now - Lady Antebellum
This is actually one I had on the list because it was on a Press Gang fanvid, so, er... It involves phones, of course. :-)
It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now.
Said I wouldn't call but I've lost all control and I need you now.
6. Vila Restal: Hardest of Hearts - Florence & the Machine
This was really difficult. I'm sorry.
Hold on hold on hold on hold on hold on
Hold on hold on hold on hold on hold on
7. Sapphire: Every Day Is A Winding Road - Sheryl Crow
I've been wondering if all the things I've seen
Were ever real, were ever really happening
8. Barbara Wright: Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now - Starship
Okay, I think Barbara would go through this song and correct it with a red pen, but still...
Let them say we're crazy.
I don't care about that.
Put your hand in my hand, baby, don't ever look back.
9. Leela: Please Sir - Martyn Joseph
This one really didn't fit, so:
She was always a very pretty lady
He had always caught her eye (Make that "for all of the five minutes they'd known each other".)
10. Dayna Mellanby: Zombie - The Cranberries
When the violence causes silence,
We must be mistaken.
11. Regina Mills: Swords of a Thousand Men - Tenpole Tudor
This was hard:
We're gonna fight until we have won this town
12. Miss Marple: The First Cut Is The Deepest
There is just nothing I can do with that, really. Possibly I shouldn't have put Miss Marple in here in the first place.
13. Clara Oswald: Freeze - All About Eve
I love you
For the books you read.
I watch you laze in the sun,
I watch your head come undone, you smile ;
14. Kenny Phillips: Cryin' in the Rain - Everly Brothers
Again, difficult, but given where Kenny goes halfway through, maybe:
I'm gonna wear a smile and walk in the sun
15. Kathryn Janeway: One of These Days - Michelle Branch
Did I make you nervous?
Did I ask for too much?
... that was quite fun actually. :-)

Date: 21 Oct 2013 08:26 am (UTC)And, I don't know - I just listed some of my favourite characters from different things. It got a bit random towards the end, though.

Date: 20 Oct 2013 02:40 pm (UTC)What an interesting exercise, though! Ace and Sapphire worked out particularly well, I thought. Nice line for Dayna, too.

Date: 21 Oct 2013 08:17 am (UTC)And no song that has so many lines about knights and castles should be that hard to get lyrics for Regina out of, it really shouldn't. But it was.
I am still amused at Silver being Not Like The Other Girls, though...
I'm tempted to do it again. It was more fun than I expected. Not as much fun as the proper 15 characters meme, though, of course. That is always the best meme. ;-D

Date: 22 Oct 2013 12:47 am (UTC)Also... I used my general playlist and discovered that one of the songs I'd got from a friend and never really listened to is about necrophilia. So that was upsetting.

Date: 22 Oct 2013 08:19 am (UTC)I'm tempted to do it again because it was surprisingly fun and intriguing.
I'm with you on the lyrics thing, though, thankfully, I didn't have any discoveries quite like that!! 0_o Freeze, though, when you get the lyrics up does seem to be about taking drugs.
