Signal Boosting: Calufrax

calufrax is seriously out of reccers this time. If you have at least 4 fics from Teaspoon that you could rec, you can help.

I've literally just recced, so I can't do much more myself just now, but it is worthwhile & it's usually fun.

It's not scary - everything you need, including the posting template is there in the sign-up post. calufrax gets boosted on to Tumblr and other places, too & non-LJ users can rec as well.

(I don't do much signal boosting and I know most people round here follow the comm anyway... but it's calufrax, people, I have to try.)

I'd do it but... I'd literally just rec my own stuff which seems a little unfair (plus I don't post stuff to teaspoon...)

You have to rec other people's works for [Unknown site tag], and they must be works posted on Teaspoon, so if you don't really read fic on there, you probably wouldn't be able to, no.

I know! I'm posting this here and nearly everybody on my flist are people who have recced lots, are reccing shortly, and if they aren't have very good reasons why not. But still. It makes me feel helpful...

I've never signed up for that, but haven't been reading much fanfic lately, and anything I've liked will probably have been recced already, so... not gonna work, alas.

I, too, am sitting here thinking about how I don't actually read much Who fic. And when I do it's not on Teaspoon (the tagging system always seemed kind of awkward and inflexible to me? I've always gone to AO3 because that's where I'm used to looking for fics). :c

If you've got fics you've found on AO3, you can check if they're on Teaspoon quite easily by author (all fics are listed on the author pages by alphabetical order) - I mean, if you were interested in reccing otherwise. Teaspoon is harder to search, which is one of the reasons calufrax is so helpful, because it's very well tagged & you can dive into all the best stuff.

I always browsed by categories (the Classic Who ones are smaller), stop to read a good author and then check their favourites, and that always paid off, but then AO3 was barely in existence at that point, and when it was it was tiny and impossibly slow!

I guess my main problem is that I'm really self-conscious about things I like?? I don't tend to rec things because there's always a nagging feeling that what I like is really stupid (my favs aren't even public on AO3). Plus I just... don't read much fic anymore.

I am torn between a desire to be helpful (especially as I have too much spare time this summer) and... not. >__>
