Fic: UNIT: Transition

Just a quick post to say that it is finally finished here and merely awaiting approval. (And it is at least about 800 words shorter than Remnants!!)

For all my moaning about this one when I started it, and for all its obscurity, I feel as bereft as I did when I finished How The West Was Lost. Hmm, what to write next?

Oh, it's passed. Just a momentary wibble as I had to re-emerge into the real world. (It's a bit scary out here...) Luckily for me, I do have a large amount of other fics lined up this time. :-D

It's a bit like the empty nest syndrome, I think - you finally get your baby all grown up and ready for the rest of the world then look at their messy, abandoned bedroom and listen to the quiet.

Thankfully, it only lasts a moment (at least usually)... I know this time around I'm finishing off the ending of one with a Threefic and a handful of drabbles already bumping impatiently in line behind it. Congrats on finishing what looks to be a very promising tale - I've so enjoyed the beginning I'm looking forward to the rest. :-)

That's an interesting way to look at it. To be honest, when I do a longer story I'm usually so glad to be finished with it, but both this, Remnants (although that was shorter) and How The West Was Lost I did not want to stop. Plus, this one, I wrote a last-minute last scene which is fatal. (Wait, I've thought of something else as well! Hmm, did it need that?)

I'm glad you liked the start. It was so obscure I really wasn't going to write it. It's all Leela's fault! (This stemmed from the Image of the Fendahl Happy Endings, Hasty Exits AU I did with Leela staying with Colby. It got plotty and brought in Crichton and Belfort and left the inevitable question of what the heck the other two did without Leela around. This fic was the very long answer.)
