Fannish Things

1. Yuletide noms closed this morning - next up comes the fun! The full tag set, letters appearing, making requests! \o/
(And guess what? I nommed the 1968 TV Dracula as my third fandom. Just as I was about to repent my folly, some nonnie commented on the fandom promotion thread to say that they liked the look of it and that was all the encouragement I needed. So I will have three impossible fandoms on my request list. /sheepish)
But here we go again, folks! *bounces*
2.
het_reccers is having an anniversary Trope Bingo, so I requested a card, because that should make me, you know, actually rec something during the month.
It's like a big square the sort of fics I would go out of my way to avoid, though. I think there's one possible bingo in there, but I shall just go for any squares for which I can find het fics I like - I don't especially want a prize, just something to make me rec! So, I think it should work.

If you're not scared off by that, you too could have a card here!
3. I made a post to one of my comms -
dw_allsorts (the Doctor Who mini-table prompt comm*) asking for suggestions for prompt tables. I wondered if anyone here would have any suggestions. There's more details over at the post, and there isn't a desperate need - it's just that I know everyone is so different and I'm very aware that all of these tables were made by me, so I thought it might be quite nice to have some by other people? If anyone has any ideas, or would have joined in if there was a table like x, now's your chance! (Also, if anyone would like to suggest a theme for a table/tables, that would also be cool. I didn't think of that when making the post).
4. I wrote a thing for
runaway_tales the other day! And so what, you cry? Well, it was not for Heroes of the Revolution, it was for The Pirate Queen (another of the three fake shows I did at the time, only one that had current actors and was In Space! With Pirates! (Well, Pirates-ish.) I had some thoughts about it, so I might occasionally write some bits for it? I don't know, but there's this, which I did hastily for the Flavour of the Day:
Beneath My Dignity (All ages, 444 words. Lio Hadwin, Arkryte II.) Lio gets lumbered with his nemesis on an away trip.
* It is an awesome comm! You should join! I'm not biased; I didn't make it... Oh, wait, I am, and I did. ;-D

Date: 3 Oct 2015 08:15 pm (UTC)Pirate queens! In space! Have you seen "Cutthroat Island"? Not in space, but a pirate queen. Okay, she's not technically a queen, but she is an awesome pirate. I recall you saying you'd avoided "Treasure Island" at one time because of the lack of women, so "Cutthroat Island" might be the perfect film for you. Okay, I may be slightly biased as it's one of my favourite films, but still. I can actually rec a film that's really about a pirate queen - "Anne Of The Indes", from 1951, but the side-eyeing over epic sexism would probably make it not technically a rec. More an apology. But bits of it are good! ;)

Date: 4 Oct 2015 08:06 am (UTC)The PIrate Queen is a spaceship, though, really, and the crew aren't properly piratical, though they are unofficial and in search of treasure of sorts. I'm actually a lot less fond of pirates than of saying Pirates! or the idea of pirates. But I shall note Cutthroat Island because I do like the idea of pirate queens.
