I had this from
stellastars about 4 days ago or so, but I seem to have been busy. (Plus it took me a while to think of 12 things!).
Here goes:
Leave me a comment and I will give you a letter. Then, write 12 things that you love starting with that letter. Post the list in your journal. Give out letters to those who comment in return.
I was given the letter D, so 12 things I love, in no particular order, except for the first:
1. Dad (who is also called David and it's his b'day on WEds, so he has to go in here).
2. Doctor Who
3. Durham (go there!)
4. Dungeons and Dragons (the cartoon, not the film or the actual game)
5. Drabbles
6. Diana Wynne Jones
7. Death Certificates (I am a family historian, okay? It's only a little bit morbid.)
8. (old) Documents (on a similar note)
9. Discworld
10. Devon
11. Dickens (half of the time)
12. Dyfed (even though it technically doesn't exist any more, but it's a way to still sneak Aberystwyth in here and Aber should always be included in some way in a list of things I love).
I was busy mainly because I've been writing UNIT Strange Weapons. I'm very pleased with Chapter Three because I put in frivolous 1980s refs, but I seem to be alone in that opinion. I really should go write something less obscure, like all those other WIPs I've been promising forever, I suppose.

Date: 2009-07-19 03:22 pm (UTC)I thought the apparently irrelevant (but it isn't) OC dialogue going on might have driven you (and everyone else) away. ;-)

Date: 2009-07-19 03:25 pm (UTC)I am feeling a bit better, thanks - the sinus headache's gone away and I don't feel *quite* so wrung out.
PS Are you going to give me a letter?

Date: 2009-07-19 03:40 pm (UTC)Thanks for the compliments. I think a sloppy Doctor/Rose fic is unlikely, although I don't mind a fun bit of Nine/Rose fic here and there. ;-)

Date: 2009-07-19 03:43 pm (UTC)I run away from all Doctor/Rose fic these days unless it's written by someone I really trust not to insist on the damned 'twu wuv' aspect.

Date: 2009-07-20 06:34 am (UTC)It's far more about Colonel Crichton, Bambera, Sarah Jane & K9 and what it's like getting dragged into being UNIT's scientific adviser when you're not the Doctor. Or an outright genius like Liz Shaw. ;-)

Date: 2009-07-20 06:37 am (UTC)K9 was much great to write, but took a bit of work. (Poor K9 is not having such fun in ch4). I know, how could I not have hedgehog crisps? I thought it would be just about the most inappropriate thing possible to eat while Nat was trying to deal with a dead body.

Date: 2009-07-21 02:28 am (UTC)I am right there with you! (It is so difficult to find other people sharing this view!) *♥s you like crazy*
Your UNIT fic... Are there any Classic Who serials that you consider to be prerequisites before reading? I've only seen a handful of UNIT-related eps with Doctors 2, 3, and 4...

Date: 2009-07-21 05:59 pm (UTC)Well, yes and no. UNIT: Strange Weapons doesn't really need any watching of serials (although knowing who Bambera is, from Battlefield would be a bonus). The other one (which has some of the same characters in) is UNIT: Transition and that is full of spoilers for Image of the Fendahl, as it picks up on the aftermath of that serial. But they're both separate stories. :-)
Colonel Crichton is also the on-screen replacement for the Brig, but I don't think viewing his five minutes on The Five Doctors is at all necessary!!
