An AO3 Meme I found going around, and I can rarely resist an AO3 meme. Mind, this one is going by the top tags in the sidebar, which tend to be more than a bit skewed, but hey...

I have apparently never even marked a fic Mature, which I thought I had. But not. I'm now wondering about that. "Outcomes of War" (for instance) really does go pretty grim in places... And what about The Cornfield? Or doesn't sex pollen count as Mature when its pure Elemental weirdness? Yeah, probably not. Elements. (I'm beginning to miss S&S, I can feel it coming over me...)

The 'Other' is mostly Elements and AI. Quite often Elements/AI, especially Silver. (Oh, S&S...)

Well, I do tend to Gen and I am generally a bit less keen on reading or writing Slash, and as someone who can't write a love scene with two people easily, writing ones where there are multiple people is difficult. (Unless they're Elements.) But I haven't sat down and thought out a preference - and sometimes I write for prompts, or somebody tells me I can't manage to write Steed/Baldrick and I do, so basically I don't plan these things out.

If I've written that much in a fandom, I'm probably in it for life, but I'll come and go and flirt with any other fandom going. Some things are things I happen to have written for once, though, rather than being fannish about. I move forward and back again and again, with DW as the one big constant, so I suppose that is migratory? I move from B7 for the winter to S&S for the summer and back again.

Well, since dw100 is a drabble comm and drabbles aren't eligible for hc_bingo, it would be fic that broke the rules of at least one of those comms, that's all I can say.

Aha, well, yes and no. The thing is, I wrote a lot of S&S fic, and OC Elements aside, there aren't many characters in S&S so the same three turn up in nearly everything, although, yes, Silver is my favourite. Kenny is there because I claimed him for a comm (30ficlets or something?) and each fic had to include him, but while I like him, Lynda is really my PG favourite - so I think, really, I write fairly widely for characters in my fandoms, except when something makes me narrow it down (small no. of characters or a challenge or something).

Actually, it probably is really random - I wondered how could Three and the Brig get so far up the list without Liz, when that's mostly from Brig/Liz fic, and lo, I have written 22 fics with Liz Shaw and she's not even on the list. (It might be partly because the earlier ones are under Liz Shaw and the later ones under the disambigged version, I think. But still.)

Interesting! B7 is still my biggest group, mainly because I was a monofannish person for a fair while there...

Doctor Who is massively ahead of everything else for me, too (and as some of the DW stuff is still only on the Teaspoon, it's even more than this - I started out using AO3 for fandoms other than DW plus DW crossovers only). I also was fairly mono-fannish for a long while before I got tempted into the path of multi-fannishness via DW's handiness for crossovers, and Yuletide.

I think I started going all crossovery when I got into Mag7, because of the sheer number of AU stories and the way it fitted into xover territory...

B7 still doesn't, at least not for me :(

B7 crosses over with some things, but it's definitely more difficult. (I say, as I contemplate the number of time-travelling B7 crossover prompts I've just engaged to write on the meme post... :lol:)

I've read quite a few time-travelling crossovers over the years... I think part of my problem is that for me the dystopic universe they are in is so important to their characters - alsomost a character in its own right - that moving them out of it, or moving characters from other shows I knew into it, just didn't gel. But obviously other folk didn't agree (and I will admit that a crack B7/Miami Vice story still lingers in the memory fondly...)

Maybe this was why, when B7 was my only fandom, I couldn't get the hang of crossovers. Then I discovered The Sentinel and Stargate, which do it beeeyootifully :)

I liked The Cornfield very much but I wouldn't rate it as mature, so S&S don't count it's official;) Not too surprised to see S&S doing well as you did 100 Elements.

Hee, yes, S&S doesn't count, does it? Not the way I do it, anyway. I was thinking I should maybe rate Outcomes of War higher for the suicide and death in it, but it is Enemy at the Door, anyone who's watched it isn't going to be surprised. :-)

I find it interesting how much you write crossovers - almost one-third of the time, it seems. To me, crossovers are so difficult, trying to get the characters to encounter each other and then keep them in-character.

It's just one of those things - even back in uni days, when I was on alt.drwho.creative and first writing DW fic, it just seemed so natural, because there's nothing to stop the TARDIS landing anywhere. There are some fandoms - magical ones, particularly, I think - where it's difficult to mesh, but most things will fit entirely naturally into DW's patchwork mish-mash universe of all time and space and endless alternate timelines. Back then, when I started, I was one of a few people (it wasn't a very big group of writers on adwc; it's amazing how comparatively vast DW fandom is now) who were on a mission to prove you could cross DW with anything. So it was actually a long time before I encountered people who didn't like crossovers or thought they were difficult to write. (The people we were proving our point to were just people who thought that you shouldn't cross DW with cartoons, or pre-school things or, lol, whatever it was we were doing! It was only when I got into non-Who fandoms that I ran into that kind of thing, and realised that, yeah, it's a lot harder to do it convincingly when you don't have all of time and space and the TARDIS to play with! On top of that, I did a crossover meme on LJ twice ages ago - I'm thinking of doing it again soon, too, because it was one of the best writing memes - and that alone grew the number by nearly 20, I think. Blame the flist; I frequently do! ;-p (My flist are awesome: they gave me things like Turlough meeting Charlotte Lucas and Davros meeting Dave Lister, and wee!Amelia Pond running into Willy Wonka and it was fun.)

That's a lot of "Doctor Who"! I'm surprised that you haven't written more for "Press Gang", but I suppose it's less likely to crop up in challenges and things.

And Silver is at the top of the characters list. There's a surprise. ;)

I was solely in DW for years. PG has more than it should do, because I did a 30 Ficlets challenge for it. I didn't complete it, but I did get about 2/3s in. S&S is the outlier, because I just had this intense couple of years with it and actually, the true number is over 80 because I combined a lot of them into one fic collection on AO3 so as not to overwhelm the fandom. They were mostly pretty short and because it was the thing that worked for me while I was so ill, but still! Nothing else ever had such a rush of writing from me.

Well, as I said, I wrote a lot of S&S and Silver was my favourite, whereas my DW fic is spread widely over the whole Whoniverse. (I do believe eve11 when she scraped Teaspoon stats a few years back said that I came back as one of the most even writers across eras on the entire website, so it's all different characters.) Silver is fun, though!

Silver is fun, yes. I think I'm primed to like Steel best because David McCallum, but Silver has a very amiable sparkle to him.

They were mostly pretty short and because it was the thing that worked for me while I was so ill, but still! Nothing else ever had such a rush of writing from me.
