I stopped posting and commenting again, for most of the same reasons, and some more. Sorry - summer! (Even when it's not even hot). However, I get really funny and crawl somewhere inside myself when I don't post and comment, which is really not good, BUT now I have been reminded of a thing I can post!

It has, after all, been about 6 months since I last did the 15 Characters Meme...


1) Make a list of fifteen characters first, and keep it to yourself for the moment.

2) Ask your f-list to post questions in the comments. For example: "One, nine, and fifteen are chosen by a prophecy to save the world from four. Do they succeed?", "Under what circumstances might five and fourteen fall in love?", "Which character on the list would you most want on your side in a zombie invasion?"

3) After your f-list has stopped asking questions, round them up and answer them using the fifteen characters you selected beforehand, then post them.


(Also I may try to do a What I'm Reading post. Possibly even on Wednesday (today, gosh). I did mean to do it more than once a year, but I've already failed on that point.) I hope everyone else is well. I am sorry, I didn't mean to go away and ignore you all again. It wasn't that I didn't care. Just spoons (lack of), summer, dentists (only the usual kind) and more family history.

The dentist was fine, really, but I think I got a little stressed because I hadn't been properly for at least 10 years and I didn't want anything more done - but it was all all right! :-)

I am not sure yesterday morning whether I misread the date, or if I still thought it was 2015 (2016 has been a bit hard to get the hang of, it's true) but yes. Indeed. I thought it was longer than 6 months. I was quite surprised. And now I'm surprised that I managed to go 18 months without a round!

1 and 11 decide to go parasailing over a tropical island. Who picks the destination? Who decided the activities and who will chicken out?

3, 6 and 9 are in a band? WHo plays drums? Who is on guitar? and who provides the vocals? Will their single be Top of the Pops or the Flops?

This meme is always, always fun, and always good to do when you don't have anything else to post! Hmm. Maybe I should do it again myself. I have also sort of been absent from LJ, and mentally absent in general, lately. (I really, really, really am going to have to kick my brain into writing that Life in Storybrooke story soon. It is being extremely uncooperative.)

Anyway! Some questions:

1's home is on fire! What one object do they rescue from the burning premises?

10 writes their memoirs. How accurate or embellished are they? What's the title? What kind of review does 14 give the book?

6 and 8 show up on your doorstep and announce that they need to stay with you for a week. Are they decent housemates? Exactly what kind of chaos does your life suddenly become?

You should definitely write your Storybrooke fic, as I believe you are now once again the only person in the ficathon, unless I pull my head out of other matters, regain some spare spoons and magically write something. Which, er... Well, remind me never to run a difficult ficathon in the middle of summer again, please? :lol:

I'm not surprised. Obviously, I hope for fic, but the original plan of walking away whistling and pretending we have never even heard of such a ficathon is totally looking more and more like an option here. /o\

I will admit, it's a somewhat tempting one, if there really isn't going to be anyone else participating. We could, um, always declare this a trial run and re-attempt later, I suppose...

This is absolutely my back-up plan and has been all along. (i.e. Ficathon? What ficathon? -> Look! A shiny new ficathon astrogirl2 and I have made! We have never run it before, you are imagining things!) I am somewhat puzzled as to how to reach Ouat fandom, but maybe with better timing, some of the other LJ-OUaT people might help me pimp on Tumblr. But hey, no harm in trying! :-)

I'm not sure how to reach OUaT fandom in general, either, alas, being as I mostly just sit here in my little corner of LJ. It does occur to me, though, that in addition to the other bad timing issues, it may be easier to stir up some interest when we're not in the midst of a between-seasons hiatus, too.

I am fine with that, although don't let me stand between you and your ambition to be a ficathon all by yourself, because the opportunity is now yours indeed. ;-p

The only thing I can think is to post the banner several times and tag it with all the pairings in turn, but that also seems potentially spammy and annoying. Tumblr is great at quickly sharing images, jokes, follow-on memes, and finding people also interested in obscure things and small fandoms, and gifs, but it's dreadful when you suddenly want to do things and you realise that none of the LJ methods work at all. (It's understandable: to survive over there in a big fandom you need filter everything out so you're not drowning in stuff and getting all the w*nk, but what do you do?)

You know, if I could work up any writing ambition at the moment, or get my head into an OUaTish place, I would totally step up to that challenge with gusto, but, um... Doing it later instead sounds just fine to me right now. :)

I know I've said this before, possibly ad nauseum, but I don't really understand how actual fannish activity and interactions get done on Tumblr at all, fanart aside.

It occurs to me, belatedly, that I could maybe pimp on the currently-defunct OUaT rewatch comm for anyone still subscribed to it. Although even that feels a little bit spammy to me, somehow.

I don't think pimping on a relevant comm is spammy - having run several comms and fests by now, it's the only way to get the news out there. (When Obscure & British is on, you have no idea how spammed up my flist is with my pimping on various comms! I just have to remember that nobody but me gets quite that swamping and to space it out a bit). Anyway, what I mean is, as long as the comm's rules say it's okay, then you're just passing on something that is likely to be of interest to someone. I certainly didn't pick up that comm in my efforts earlier, so we'll have to remember it for whenever we may try again!

9 is forced into a live "shag, marry, cliff" scenario involving 2, 8, and 12. What consent issues arise, if any, how likely is the marriage to last, and can 4 save the "cliff" victim from imminent doom?

Yes, I recycled that one from Over There, but tweaked the numbers -- after all, it worked out so well on the first pass. :-)

3 and 10 awaken next to one another and find they've mysteriously been transformed into Muppets. Who actually auditions for Kermit, which of 6 or 14 was responsible, and who on the list is able to reverse the process...for a price, of course?

1, 3, and 11 are a bar band. What sort of music, what sort of bar, and how much of a fan following do they develop before the inevitable breakup?

Hi! Welcome, and thank you for the prompts - I have now returned the favour and friended you back, as you will see. :-)

We don't overlap in a lot of fandoms, but a few here and there (so I, er, hope my answers aren't completely incomprehensible to you!) but I can see from your profile that we do seem to share quite a few attitudes to fandom, even aside from liking crossovers and memes.

Also, btw, if you ever want it, there's a related 12 Characters Meme that went round a while back, with the list but with set questions and one of my flisters turned the thing into a generator - so there you go for emergency fannish crack, if ever needed! (He's done a lot of random generators. :-))
