1. I've been enjoying making icons for people (and I am still doing them, if you're still waiting, or belatedly wanting to put in a request). I also have managed to at least get my Yuletide fic into a proper first draft form, so now I hope to be a better and less absent flister again! (I shall try!)

First impression: I'm fairly sure that I always found Vila my 'way in' character, my point of identification and the one who originally vied for favourite with Avon.

Impression now: He's way ahead of Avon in my favourites league these days. Some days he nearly gets overtaken by Servalan, but yes. He's both the most open, identifiable character as I first felt and in some ways the one we most can't be sure of who he really is. I love him!

Favorite moment: I think, for best acting and the bit that moved me the most, when he's hiding in Orbit, and any time his love of picking a lock gets the better of his fear.

Idea for a story: Hm, I tend not to encourage B7 bunnies; I always ahve this feeling they'd turn into epic series involving 100s of 1000s of words if I didn't keep an eye on them. Can I say instead that I want Clocket to finish her Vila/Servalan fic she was writing, because that promised to be very awesome?

Unpopular opinion: I don't ship him with Avon? (I think not shipping anyone with Avon is always an unpopular opinion in this fandom!)

Favorite relationship: Vila & Avon. Not that I don't like Vila & Cally, and Vila & Jenna, and Vila & Blake, and that one amazing time we got Vila & Servalan. And that B7 is such fun that any two characters put together are interesting.

Favorite headcanon: I think that story about being an Alpha isn't true. :-)

ETA: Argh, I'm so sorry; I saw the Vila icon and assumed you were vilakins. It was only when I went in my inbox that I saw I'd been talking to you all along! *head!desks* (In my defence, I have used a LOT of my brain up on Yuletide lately. It's just as well this isn't a writing meme.)

It's partly that over this side on Dreamwidthy is mostly crickets and Vilakins is one of the most regular people who speaks to me here. But, er, yeah. Tired! /o\

Blake icons definitely help. I can usually tell people apart despite icons though!

How about Martha Jones?

First impression: As far as I can remember, I loved her pretty much at once.

Impression now: I still like her a lot, although my favourite NW companion is Clara these days. For the moment. Martha was probably more deserving of the title, though!

Favorite moment: Martha being brought before the Master and laughing at him, I think, but she has lots of great moments. It's been too long since I rewatched some of S3.

Idea for a story: Ummm... I'm sorry, I really don't have one stashed away anywhere at the moment. I suppose (having written a Clara Splinter/Martha ficlet, it occurs to me to wonder about a meeting between the pair of them...

Unpopular opinion: Is mildly liking Doctor/Martha one? Only in rabid Doctor/Rose circles, surely? Or maybe in Doctor/Martha circles for being too mild? I thought Martha/Mickey was really off, much as I like them both.

Favorite relationship: Doctor & Martha. (I mean, in DW, Doctor & Companion is nearly always the key one, isn't it?) I am totally fine with it also being Doctor/Martha too.

Favorite headcanon: Martha continued to be a doctor, fight evil and be awesome whatever happened, UNIT or Doctor or Mickey or no. I think that's sort of canon really too. Also, I don't know if it counts as headcanon, but if I'm being cracky, I'll always have Ten ask unreasonable things of Martha and expect her to cope, because canon.

I agree about Mickey/Martha feeling really off, they never once met on-screen from what I remember, and then suddenly they were introduced as married in DT's last episode, even though Martha had been engaged to Tom last time we saw her in series 4. Umm okay then.

First impression: Love at first sight, the moment she dropped all her files on the floor.

Impression now: Still in love. Yep.

Favorite moment: So many! "Lay all your sorrows on the king..."/ "Shall I hit him again, Adam?", but maybe I'll go for the bit where she turns the tables on the patronising professor in the two part S4 opener.


Idea for a story: I think I still have several more Ruth-Doctor ideas lurking about.

Unpopular opinion: I don't think loving Ruth is an unpopular Spooks opinion and neither is shipping Ruth/Harry, so... um. Oh, wait! I'm actually not bothered by her death at the end, probably because it was the end, and it was Spooks as many other people seem to be.

Favorite relationship: I like Ruth & everyone! I mean, Ruth/Harry, but Ruth&/Tom I adore, and she's great with so many of the other characters in other ways.

Favorite headcanon: I like to completely ignore the bits relating to George in 8.01. LALALALA can't hear you. ;-)

First impression: "New Doctor - not sure - will I like him - I hope so - I think so... yep."

Impression now: Twelve!!! *hugs him and gets glared at*

Favorite moment: Spoon-fighting. Listen.

Idea for a story: Nothing solid, but Ruth & Twelve would be fun. Also Twelve meeting up with past companions would be good. I vaguely think these things and never go there.

Unpopular opinion: In some quarters, liking him and S8 and s9 a whole lot, but I think a fair few people are with me.

Favorite relationship: Twelve & Clara. (♥)

I was sure he'd be great, too, but there's that moment at the start, wondering which way the writing is going, how he'll be - will I like him quite as much as Eleven? Just a bit!

I do, too, now, but if we're talking first impressions, it was one of the things I wondered - because I did really love Eleven. Twelve has now entirely displaced him, though. I'm clearly more fickle than I thought!

First impression: Since I was watching it for David Collings, I think I mainly thought, "Nice entrance!" before my view was blocked by the hearts in my eyes.

Impression now: I still like him a lot. Maybe a bit more rationally than I used to, but that's just as well.

Favorite moment: Not getting the concept of losing on teh arcade game in A6.

Idea for a story: Ahahaha, my notebook is filled with rough ideas and prompts and abandoned S&S WIPs, most of them involving Silver. I think there's a partially typed out hc_bingo square effort for Silver/Sapphire/Steel + tentacles.

Unpopular opinion: I think lately there's been a lot more Silver-love in the fandom, but liking him put me in a minority to begin with, or it felt like it. There was hardly any fic at all.

Favorite relationship: Sapphire/Silver/Steel.

Favorite headcanon: Silver is definitely not evil and got them out of the cafe at the end. I also think it's implied by canon that Sapphire and Steel are the perfect pair of operators and Silver is their perfect technician, hence the Transient Beings attacking all three of them and specifically after they get assigned together. It's rusty now, but I had an awful lot of S&S headcanon at one point.

How about Arnold Rimmer?

First impression: I am fairly sure that the first bit of RD I ever saw was from that S2 episode where LIster gives Rimmer some memories - but the bit where they were all drunk on some asteroid. I thought the whole thing looked completely stupid and I didn't understand why Rimmer was dancing in a cage.

Impression now: Mostly, Oh RIMMER. In tones of disgust/fondness/despair and general head!desking. I think this is pretty usual. The universe's favourite smarmy, awful holographic git, in short.

Favorite moment: There are too many, or at least too many funny ones. I think when Rimmer ruins Better Than Life because he can't believe good things can happen to him. This always seems just the epitome of Rimmer and why we like him as well as loathe him.

Idea for a story: Even if Rimmer wouldn't count this as being technically him, that Ace Rimmer keeps running into the Doctor thing that I and JJPOR were perpetrating (mostly) JJPOR is seriously out of date now & we need more entries. Even if we skip Eleven, we need Twelve!! Twelve would be so entertainingly annoyed and baffled by Ace Rimmer.

Unpopular opinion: Um, well, I don't actively ship Rimmer/Lister? Not that I oppose it, because it's a lot more canon plausible than most such ships. Or even canon, given that Lister has been known to dream about kissing him. But not enough not to feel as if I couldn't really be properly in the fandom. Even if I wasn't spreading myself too thin over 100 other fandoms as it is.

Favorite relationship: Rimmer/Self-loathing OTP.

Favorite headcanon: S8 doesn't exist. (I'm much more bothered about S8 Rimmer being the wrong Rimmer than anything else, including Back to Earth.) But this is Red Dwarf; it's not as if canon is hard and fast on anything for me to worry too much.

Adam Adamant, Georgina Jones or Simms?

Okay, stand back, I'll attempt to do them all at once!

First impression: Adam and Georgie: OMG, adorable. For Simms, I was a bit more wary - who is this person and will he interfere in the george&/Adam dyamic?

Impression now: Adam and Georgie, pretty much the same. Simms = ♥

Favorite moment: Adam and Georgie - any time they're tied up or worrying about each other. Bonus point for any moment when they're tied up AND worrying about each other. For Simms, being forced to sword-fight with a feather duster. It's not the weapon of a gentleman!

Idea for a story: My Unconventional Courtship Adam/Georgie AU. It needs to get written - it has an ending. Various despairing attempts to write shippy fic, and vague ideas for casefic (eg. notes like "someone is kidnapping pop stars??")

Unpopular opinion: I think this fandom is too small for unpopular opinions. Liking it better than The Avengers is probably one.

Favorite relationship: Adam & Georgie & Simms, or Adam/& Georgie.

Favorite headcanon: Eventually, tropes and Miss Jones will force Adam to marry her and he'll be shocked at how well it works out. Simms will grumble but never hand in his notice.

Miss Marple!

First impression: Hmm, I can't remember my first impression from my first book reading, but then, that's because it wasn't my first encounter with her. I had watched some bits of the BBC 1980s Miss Marple and I thought she was completely terrifying.


Impression now: She is Nemesis herself indeed. I was right to be scared.

Favorite moment: When she decides to spend her money in Nemesis, I think.

Idea for a story: Oh, I don't know if I have a Miss Marple idea in my head. I'm always ready to stick her in a crossover and let her sort people out, though.

Unpopular opinion: I think she's a much better detective than Poirot. (I'm not sure if that's an unpopular opinion, but Poirot wouldn't like it and nor would Hastings, so that probably makes it so.)


Favorite relationship: Miss Marple/Mystery; also Miss Marple & Dermot Craddock.

Favorite headcanon: JohnAmendAll once pointed out that if Miss Marple's timeline is skewed, she could easily appear without explanation in any time period, unchanged. (Many detectives may also share this, as they don't seem to age much). I borrow this a lot.

I think it's been way too long since I read any of those to claim that I actually have any sort of opinion. I liked gaudy Night and I liked Harriet better than Peter, but that's about my limit. Would you like a different choice?

First impression: I met her first in the novels. I really loved her but feared I wouldn't like the real Leela because she was played by that annoying woman from Bergerac. I was wrong.

Impression now: I love her, her fierceness, her ignorance that is never stupidity & how unique she is among companions.

Favorite moment: "Do not be afraid, Doctor. I shall look after you." ♥

Idea for a story: Leela's quite hard to write, so unless I've been watching her, I don't tend to have ideas lurking. However, I just used the ersatz generator and it gave me Leela and dragons and now I have an idea. Not that i'll write it, but Leela and dragons, why is that not a thing already?

Unpopular opinion: I don't mind Four/Leela? I think in a world full of FOur/Romana and Four/Sarah, it's not what you'd call a popular ship. But I don't OTP it. I sort of guiltily kind of like it. I also like Leela/Andred a lot! Now, that's an unpopular opinion.

Favorite relationship: Leela & K9, then Leela & the Doctor, Leela/Andred, Leela & Professor Litefoot.

Favorite headcanon: Leela married Andred and revolutionised Gallifreyan society. Hopefully without tragedy no matter what all the spin-offs say. On this one thing, I'm with Lungbarrow.

First impression: Who is she?

Impression now: Best Master since Roger Delgado! Delightfully evil and spiky and complicated and a little bit mad in all the right ways.

Favorite moment: When we found out for sure who she was? I don't know, though. She's pretty great. Probably any time she's on screen.

Idea for a story: I am failing, I haven't really thought about writing Missy. I put her and Twelve in the Genremixer and it gave me back: Twelve / Missy - aliens made them do it & rockband au. I'm not sure I could do it justice, but I'm pretty sure it'd be entertaining.

Unpopular opinion: Hmm. Not minding the kiss at all? (Seriously, the Master regenerates as a female, you think s/he isn't going to mess with the Doctor in any way s/he can? :lol:)

Favorite relationship: Twelve & Missy, but Missy & Clara was also fun.

Favorite headcanon: Obviously she's still alive and will return, but I'm pretty sure canon will bear me out on that one!
