In which I finally prove my love for Seven and Ace by making icons

I keep saying that Seven is my favourite Doctor etc etc etc. But what do I ever do to prove it?

Well, I have made some icons (much too quickly, cos I wanted to be the first person to cap and icon Silver Nemesis, which was my first full Doctor Who serial, the first Target novelisation I bought, and the first video I bought. (Sadly BBC were a bit slow in releasing it, so it's not my first DVD by any means). And you know what else? The sleeve insert in the DVD, instead of being apologetic about it, as it sometimes is about these stories deemed to be 'lesser', goes and sums up what I found in it, and loved to pieces:

At the heart of this story is the programme's sense of fun. The Doctor sets about thwarting his enemies with a spring in his step, using jazz music to defeat ruthless logic and all the time whistling as he works. There really is no other hero quite like him...

It doesn't mention that Ace and the Doctor have a lovely day out, listen to jazz, watch Nazis fight scary Cybermen and then blow up things, but that also happens. (I know this is not ever going to win best story, but I still think it was a great thing to stumble onto when you were 11 or so. So I ran out with my Tescos vouchers yesterday, and this is the result. I also had to put up with some Fourth Doctor nonsense that came attached, but I daresay I can stand it... :lol:)

Anyway, I said there were icons... (I will do some more some time, less hastily, but Seven and Ace are too awesome to come out very badly, even with me making the things.)

It also doesn't mention that, after blocking Cyberman transmissions with a Courtney Pine tape, the Doctor says "There's nothing like a good jam session!", which is The Best Line Ever.

Yay! I've never seen "Silver Nemesis," but it sounds great, and how wonderful that you have such a special attachment to it. As for it being a "lesser" story, some of those are my absolute favorites too. What do these DWM polls know, anyway? :D

Heh. It is... well, it has a lot of plot strands, and only three episodes and things start getting random, but, you know, it has lost Sixteenth Century people, and Cybermen getting killed by arrows - and then Ace gets to kill a lot of Cybermen as well. As an 11 year old, I don't think I'd ever seen anything where the heroine killed (almost) all the monsters before. Ace was just my role model for about the next ten years, although, sadly, I never blew anything up ever. :-D

You know what - and this seems unbelievable now - it wasn't just the first video I ever bought; it was the first video anyone in my family ever bought, so it was this huge, shocking thing to do. That seems very funny now, and I feel older than I am...

Y'know, it's a truly dreadful story (to the point where I don't want to spend good money to buy the DVD), but the Seventh Doctor and Ace are perfect in it. *loves them to pieces*

Aw, I think there are worse stories around - at least this one runs along and is sunny - but, yes, but Seven and Ace are great! :-D

Well, it's not, um, a great story. At all. And it does have the awful cringeworthy bit with the skinheads... but 11 year old nostalgia! Seven and Ace! (I also for this reason have probably much too much fondness for Lady P and Richard, too. :lol:)
