Four more, same as before. Well, nearly. Of the male variety this time, and possibly less pretty, although I suppose that depends on your point of view...

True, true. He is indeed, even if his hair is not quite as amazing as that of certain other people... I think I was mainly thinking that I would never describe Oliver Reed as 'pretty'! :-)

I don't find Reed really appealing in anything else but in that movie... he's gorgeous.

:-D I love The Three Musketeers and the Four Musketeers. I tend to think no other versions count. Yes, I was just after a good lacy collar shot, but since I went for The Four Musketeers caps, all the great ones are of Athos & I'd already done a Michael York/lacy collar/crucifix crop in my batch of icons I did a while back. :-D

I'm not sure what else I've seen him in, but, yes. I think that although he is not how I would have pictured Athos from the book, he simply is him in this.

I love Oliver Reed as Athos. He was superb in the part, and those films are my favourite when it comes to the Musketeers. The scene where he's telling D'Artagnan about the Comte de la Fere is just heartbreaking, and I adore the scene between him and Milady (where Athos takes the paper the Cardinal gave her). When I watched that scene, years after originally seeing them, it suddenly hit me that his relief when she says "There is nothing between us" is because he was afraid she might have had his child.

Your icon really shows Athos's sadness. Poor Athos. :o(

Hee! (Sorry, that's just my inevitable surprise and glee at seeing an icon of mine being used. :-D)

He is marvellous in this, I agree totally. And the scene you mention - that's where the cap comes from for that icon; he's listening to the conversation between them.

Actually I like the close crops better! You chose really interesting edges, and also, I like how it makes people almost look like other people at first glance. (Ridiculous, but: the first guy looks kinda like Eleven, and the third guy looks kinda like Michael Palin. Richard Armitage will never not look like Richard Armitage.)

Aw, thanks. I really do like doing crops like this, but they don't always work out. I'm amused by the unintentional likenesses. I know what you mean (and I can definitely see the Michael Palin likeness in Aden Gillett there) although I suspect part of it might be familiarity - maybe once you get to see S&S there will never be any thought of David McCallum looking like Matt Smith... ;-D
