Obscure & British Comment Fest
May. 11th, 2013 01:05 pmWelcome to the Obscure & British comment fest! This is a comment fest for any small(ish) British fandom and open to any kind of fanwork.

If you've ever loved any (non-large) British fandoms, find yourself too obscure for most fests, or you're busy wondering why there's still no Emma Peel in all this Avengers stuff, you're in the right place. Come on in and help yourself to a cup of tea and a crumpet. Also you should make prompts and fill them.
Rules & Guidelines
This comment!fest works in the same way as most comment ficathons - although all kinds of fanworks are definitely welcome here. (Fanart, icons, fanmixes, vids, whatever your creative mind can come up with.)
1. Be polite - no bashing of anyone, any prompts, characters, ships or fandoms! Thank you.
2. One prompt per post, please use format: Fandom, Character/Pairing, prompt.
3. Post fills as replies (or links) to the comment containing the prompt. Please format the subject line as follows: Fandom - Character/Pairing - Rating/Warnings (if needed). There's a fills thread at the start of the post. Please also link your fill here.
4. You may fill your own prompts if you wish. Multiple fills are allowed - even encouraged, especially in different formats.
5. For crossovers any fandom is allowed as long as the first fandom qualifies. (If it's a cracky multi-fandom crossover prompt, that's fine, too, though try and make sure there are always equal or more eligible fandoms in proportion to those that are non-eligible.)
6. Any other questions - there's a questions thread at the start of the post.
7. Prompt, fill, away!
Eligible Fandoms
Basically, any non-large British fandom at all! You can prompt for anything that fits, no matter how odd, old or obscure, or shiny and new - anything that's not on the below list is great.
Non-eligible fandoms
ALL non-British fandoms are ineligible (except as crossovers) and the following fandoms are British but too large and therefore ineligible for this fest (sorry):
Chronicles of Narnia, Doctor Who (2005+), Downton Abbey, Good Omens, Harry Potter, The Hobbit (all), James Bond (Craig!Bond films only), Lord of the Rings (all), Merlin, Primeval, Robin Hood (BBC), Sherlock (BBC), Sherlock Holmes (all), The Silmarillion, Skins (UK), Torchwood, and any post-2000 Actor RPF or Bandom/Musician RPF.
So - anything British not listed above: British TV, films, books, Historical events, plays, songs, radio dramas, folklore & mythology, anthropomorphic - it's all good. There's no closing date for prompts or fills.
If you want to promote the fest, then thank you! Please do. You can find a selection of banners here, or feel free to make your own.

Date: 2013-05-11 01:47 pm (UTC)Endeavour - Morse/Joan - G
Date: 2013-05-16 03:25 pm (UTC)The cinema, less often, because they only get new reels every three weeks, and Morse refuses to see anything twice. He buys her little paper bags of humbugs and never puts his arm across her shoulder. He likes Lois Maxwell as Moneypenny, because she flirts like Joan, with an edge of cynicism that never quite masks the sweetness underneath.
After, they sit in smoky, low-ceilinged pubs. Morse thinks she asks for Babycham every time just to watch him squirm as he orders it. She always tries his ale, and always wipes her top lip delicately with the edge of her finger, and grimaces. Or they go to coffee shops and toy with a plate of florentines, and their knees bump together under the rickety tables.
His favourite part is the walk home, though, even though it means he's leaving her. Their hands brush casually as they walk, and lately she's been linking her fingers with his, with this fierce look in her eyes, like she's daring him to comment. The river bank is quiet, and lined with reeds, and when it rains, she presses close to him under the umbrella and scolds him for bringing her this way, her shoes'll be ruined, no doubt.
The sun's low over the city, this evening, geese cawing in regimented bows across the sky. He's got a pile of paperwork on his desk at home, a ring of car thieves, six months in the breaking, and half a bottle of Scotch to chase it down. And twenty minutes left with Joan. They don't talk about work - Joan says he's worse than her dad at keeping everything bottled up - but she knows when it's weighing on his mind; she's had years to learn what the silences mean, in her family.
'Let's not go to the Oasis on Friday,' she says abruptly, out of nothing.
'But I thought --'
'Nah, I don't fancy it. Those places -- always come back reeking of smoke with my stockings all ripped to shreds.'
She's been on at him for months about the Oasis. 'You sure? I was almost looking forward to it.'
'You were not,' she says, linking her arm with his. 'Stop trying to be gallant. If you want to treat me, you can get us tickets to that Prince thing you've been eyeing up.'
He stares at her. 'Prince Igor?'
'That's the one. Not much chance of ruining another pair of stockings sat in the stalls, eh?'
'Your father'd go spare if he heard you talking about your stockings.'
She laughs. 'Stop changing the subject. This is a one-time offer, Constable.'
'Okay, okay,' he says, relenting. She's so defiant, so prickly about her kindness, and he's so bad at accepting it, accepting that he needs it, and he thinks that might be what'll doom them, eventually. But it's enough for now.
'Tell us about this Prince Igor, then,' she says, and that's code for stop thinking about criminals and corpses and the filth of mankind.
They walk along with the sunset licking the water, talking about Polovtsian warriors and abandoned wives and drunken gudok players, and Morse can't really tell if she's interested in Prince Igor or in him, and the way he can't stop himself from rambling when there's music at stake. She stops when they're a stone's throw from the house, and stands on the tips of her toes to kiss him, and that's new, too, they're still getting used to it.
'What, you ashamed of me?' he says, grinning. Her hair's down today, curling over her shoulders and shadowing her face, and his fingers are toying with the ends of it, absent-mindedly.
'What d'you think my dad'd say if he caught you with your hands all over his daughter?'
'But I haven't got my hands all over you.'
Joan grins. 'More's the pity,' she says wickedly, and Morse is disarmed, totally. She kisses him again, firm and close-mouthed, before turning and walking away from him, heading for home along the riverbank, skipping over the puddles with her hair gleaming.
