... to [livejournal.com profile] rosiedlotrfan! May you have an excellent day!

Also as Happy a Birthday as is possible in the circumstances, and many miserable, sarcastic returns of Gauda Prime Day to [livejournal.com profile] aralias and [livejournal.com profile] jaxomsride! I'd wish you all the nice things and a happy year to come, but I think we all know it'd just be tempting fate, which operates by Murphy's Law. ;-p (No, really, silliness aside - hope you both have a lovely day!)

And general commiserations on this special day to the rest of the Blake's 7 fandom (by far the best little fandom in this corner of the Federation)! Have the obligatory fanvid.

A birthday post! That seems like a nice place to post an interesting bit of news that I heard yesterday. Jonathan Blum, whose name you may know from Doctor Who bookdom, mentioned on the Who forum that he and his wife Kate Orman are writing a B7 book next year for Big Finish. It's to be Dayna-centric. Could be quite promising! They're responsible for some very good Who books between them. "Vampire Science" would be almost at the top of my recommendations list, and "The Year Of Intelligent Tigers" was rather a good one too.

(Rest assured, I reminded him of the importance of things exploding around Dayna). ;)

Well. That should be interesting. I'm unsure I want them doing B7 (I'd rather know their thoughts about Peter Capaldi's Doctor, but am unwilling to hang around any DW forum long enough to find out), but... hmm. Yes, Dayna must make things explode as Ace would. Heh heh.

Jonathan Blum has now added: "We want it to be their first real glimpse of what's going on in the wider galaxy [post-war]. Plus the plot hinges on the fact that, at this point, Dayna is the only one of the bunch who isn't a known wanted criminal yet; she's got some big choices to make. And another turning point comes when Avon has to leave Tarrant alone and in control of the Liberator for the first time..."

Certainly sounds interesting! Though I'm always suspicious of other's opinions of Tarrant. Everybody else is mean about him. *sulk*

Quite a lot of people ship Adam and "Miss Jones". They specify that she's a teenager, so she's too young for me. I don't like that age difference. You're hardly alone though!

And the series does have a very strong beginning. I love that first episode. If you're liking it so far, that's a good sign! (Episode three has slightly problematic Japanese stereotypes, but they bounced back nicely with episode four, which is a big fan favourite).

And yes. The CAPE! And the sword-stick. :) And that theme! They wanted Shirley Bassey to sing it, but they couldn't get her. So it might have been even more OTT!

Yes, she clearly isn't really a teenager, I know! I think they say she's 18 or 19, I forget which. And he's supposed to be in his mid-thirties, which just doesn't work for me for some reason; I think maybe unhelped by him being such a man of the world. But most fans do seem to ship them, and their chemistry is fab, certainly. But I must say no more, because spoilers. :)

No comment is safe, hah. There's a really good fanfic on AO3 that whumps #12 quite well, while Clara works to rescue him, but it's unfinished and who knows if it ever will be done. Stop me from reading WiPs...

No, I know what a Tennant fan she is, and don't want creepy Tenth Doctor all over my Twelfth (which sounds so questionable, I just snorted very hard in public, in a cafe, after typing it). I think she doesn't do DW fandom anymore, anyway, which is probably healthier for her. I know ignoring official DW fora has done my nerves some good...
