I will then give you the equivalent of a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you’d expect to find on a DVD commentary track.

Not that I can guarantee I can remember anything I was thinking when I was writing stuff, and I feel puns are unlikely. (I can think of about 2 puns in total in all my fic, although it is true I can't remember stuff.)

I can't remember the story title but I want to know about the bit where your alt-Doctor (David Collings?) makes offering a jelly baby the most menacing thing ever. Do you know the snippet I'm talking about?

Ha, yes, and I do know the snippet; you quoted it when you recced me on Calufrax, and I was glad, because I'd rather wondered if the jelly baby bit was a step too far initially. (I know I had a conversation with someone about it; it was probably Clocket who beta-ed it for me.)

LOL, that is indeed a very short snippet! I can't remember whether it was someone else's idea, or mine, or what (I think it was mine), but I've had an idea about the Master's plans getting foiled by Jane Austen while he was pretending to be a vicar again for ages. It finally saw probably the only light of day it ever will here, now with bonus Clara, because of canon developments since.

But I suppose you never know...

Speaking of fannish things, I did in fact track down an online version of The Robots of Death and plan to post about it; I am not at the moment sleeping enough to have my critical faculties reliably online. But I enjoyed it immensely.

Oh, I'm glad! Not that the insomnia is still dogging you, of course, but RoD has long been a favourite DW serial of mine. As I seem to remember saying before, I have a strong weakness for a lot of Chris Boucher's writing. also d84 <3
