Characters/Pairings: Dr Webber, Tilly Holmes, Sergeant Kennedy, Captain Evered, (plus a Special Guest Appearance in the Epilogue)
Warnings: Absence of DW characters? Some possible cuteness in the Epilogue? None, really.
Summary: May 1987: Colonel Crichton has retired, his replacement’s impressing no one, and now UNIT’s scientific advisor has gone AWOL. What’s a UFO-investigating top secret military outfit to do?
I was supposed to be doing lots of things before I went home for Christmas. Writing this wasn't one of them, but it was about the only thing I ended up doing. So I may as well give in and post it.
I did say at the start that I had three potential further stories for my UNIT team (there were three. I just have to sit around murdering harmless and cute but prolific bunnies now.), that being Lonely House, Stardust and this, but this one was originally going to feature Sarah, but that didn't work, so I sat on it, because that left it completely full of OCs. However, it was one of those fics that arrive almost fully formed and it seemed a waste. To make up for it, I have devised an epilogue (and it ended up not being completely gratuitous, which was nice) that features a well-known DW character turning up on a temporary basis.) However, I've set up the 1980s UNIT team (thankfully, no one with the power to do so has rendered it all horribly AU yet...); it's only right that I set about dismantling it, in time to let canon characters take over.
It isn't okayed onto Teaspoon yet, so please be patient as usual. (It's probably not the best day to post something, either!)
