I've Been Watching Telly...

thisbluespiritWell, yes, I did watch EoT, but frankly, I've got nothing to say about it. ("Bored now.") However, on Weds, I finally got to see Spooks 8.08, which is another matter entirely...
No. No. No. Please, Spooks, don't do it!!! I have only just come round to realising how brilliant Ros is! However, I am living in hope because it was a cliffhanger.
On the other hand, she was not moving very fast and it was a large explosion. So...
But unless her body is wheeled out at the start of S9, then I shall live in denial even if they say she's dead. Can even a bomb actually finish her off? I doubt it. That leather jacket is probably indestructible or something.
So... S8. It was a bit uneven and I am still mad with episode 1 for gratuitous making characters bow to the plot and then not even following up on it. And Harry was very muted the whole season, I realised. I've missed him. Can someone get the writers to watch S4 and remember how the Harry/Ruth vibe worked? I know life moves on and so on, but still. In fact, please make them watch S1-4, discuss, dissect and analyse and stop trying to destroy the world every other week. Just trying to blow up the bit our heroes are in is quite enough. In fact, just locking the doors to the grid produced the best ever episode, please note. And please, please, Kudos, beg Howard Brenton to come back, okay?
But actually, I liked a lot about ep8. Ros and Lucas continued to develop a nice line in professional banter (the weird facts thing was fun, and it was about time Lucas gave us something, other than the Methodist minister bit). I liked the new Home Secretary being a typical smarmy politician, but not so bad underneath. And he must have some courage - he tried to chat up Ros. I mean, that takes guts. :lol: And round of applause for having the sense to demand to see Harry. Plus, it means our proper Home Sec wasn't killed in the blast, too. Lucky him.
But mostly I am just keeping my fingers crossed, because Ros is almost our sole purveyor of Spooks sarcasm these days. If they replace her with someone less sarky, what will we all do?
How long till next Autumn?
Still, in the meantime, there will be a new series of DW and I did very much like the look of Eleven at the end of that other thing I watched yesterday. I liked the trailer even more.
Perhaps Zaf, Ros and Sam denial fic is called for?? Perhaps Malcolm went off and searched for the missing team members? No, that's just bad fanfic, actually. Sorry.

The Hermans are pestering me to write a missing scene from that 'Time to Mend' fic wot I wrote (wherein Eleven and Amy rescued Handy) - there was six weeks where Handy was recovering under Martha's care aboard the TARDIS after all - plenty of time for them to get into trouble and need Martha to fix them up afterwards! :D
As for Spooks S8, I actually liked muted!Harry, because it gave Ruth a chance to reach out to him, once she'd started to forgive him for how things went down in ep 1.
The new HS has balls of steel, chatting up Ros!! He's lucky SHE didn't blow him up!! :D

I still would have liked to see a little bit more of Harry. I realised only at the end, how he's been almost one step removed from events. I did like their interactions in this episode. I forgot to mention it. It was one of the things I enjoyed and wished had come sooner - there was proper Grid interaction with Ruth and Tariq, Lucas and Ros and Harry and Ruth. I approved. ;-)
