* As I said, sorry for dropping off the edge a bit again, but I had a friend up and was therefore tired/using my social spoons elsewhere, but at least that was a good reason. It was v nice to see her. She went out geocaching a lot and in between we ate and watched Classic Doctor Who, Blake's 7 and Dungeons & Dragons because she is the only person who I know in rl who thinks my collection of old telly DVDs are a good thing.

* I'm a bit amused in passing (as well as enjoying many of the results anyway, so this isn't a complaint) that every other person seems to be doing some creative October thing - whumptober, spooktober, inktober... (What is it about October?)

* [community profile] equinox_exchange has gone live! Watch historical-flavoured fanvids! Profit!

* Some new comms and things around: [community profile] fortune_favors (a fest using tarot cards as prompts), [community profile] inspiring_tables (prompt tables, partly to replace [community profile] 15kisses etc.) Oh, and someone's been trying to put together a couple posts' worth of all the active prompt-type comms on Dreamwidth here.

* Probably some other things, but I don't have much brain, never mind.

Yay for friends, especially those who appreciate old tv! :)

I'm not doing any of the October creative challenge things ("I don't have much brain" is SO RELATABLE) but I *am* going to try and participate in [community profile] fortune_favors !

I think Sleeptober sounds like a good idea. Don't know about you. :)

Glad you've been having a good time, and with a friend of good taste into the bargain. An actual, real, flesh and blood person who likes cardboard telly! Wow!

Thanks for pointing me towards historical-flavored fanvids! There are some really great ones in there.

Thanks for linking to the prompts challenges list. I'm still looking for more sources of ficcy inspiration/external motivation, but I also seem to be entirely too picky for most prompt thingies, somehow, as there almost always seems to be one reason or another why they're not quite my thing.

I am a little tempted by [community profile] hc_bingo, because the prompts list is intriguing, but I think my brain tends not to work along traditional h/c lines, and I'm a little afraid whatever I might come up with for them would end up not really qualifying as h/c at all, somehow.

Hmm, from a quick read-over of the rules, I came away with the impression they were more of a stickler for actually caring about following the prompts/theme than the other bingos I've done, but looking at them again, I'm not entirely sure where I got that impression from. Well, I will consider it, anyway!

Although with my luck, I'd end up with all the scary prompts, because there are a lot of those, as well as a lot of intriguing ones. Well, that just counts as a challenge, right? :)

ETA: I... may have just signed up for it. Wish me luck, 'cause I think I might need it. :)

That is true! I think I've gotten some of my favorite fic out of some of the worst-looking prompts. :)

A rl person to watch old TV with is a precious thing!

Maybe the 'tober' just goes better with words? Must get on with my own Halloween thing myself!

Maybe October is a particularly handy word for mushing up together with other words? And also autumn is a good time for getting more creative, on the side of the world where it is autumn now. :-)

Yay for friend visiting and having company for watching Classic Who and all such good things!
