I am still away (just) and so not really here (merely a figment of your imagination, or possibly mine) but despite defaulting, I had two Yuletide gifts, one amazing-looking longfic in Dracula TV 1968 as my gift and a delightful drabble chain in Madness.

I am the worst recipient, as I have been too tired to read my longfic, although I am impatient to do so. It looks excellent and I obv have to find out whether there is any more fainting or not! Just right now I am all unbrained alas. but here they are. I have a vampire theme, it appears...

This was within brain-reach, happily, and so I can say it is a delightful and unexpected little crossover case for both teams and again I am the luckiest recip. (Also I had really not quite taken in the similarity of some of the dynamics in my OT3 for both, and now I am amused at myself.)

I hope everyone else doing Yuletide is having an equally nice time if with more brain, and I will be back soon and hopefully will regain brain, or at least enough to read my enticing gift.


It was very weird not having a fic that I wrote in either collection at all, though. FIrst time that has happened in 10 years, and I trust it won't happen again for another 10!! (I am here for both giving and getting; that is rather the point of exchanges!)

I'm glad you had a nice Christmas. Mine wasn't all that great. When only 1/3 of your family is even vaguely pleased to have you there it does seem a bit futile. (Especially when the other 2/3 are more than happy to let you know how much they resent your presence.) Still, I'm back in Oxford and have 3 more days before I must go back to work so making the most...

Thanks. I will soon! I'm almost there now, I feel. Poor author, waiting for me. It's not even as if it's a fandom where they'll be showered with kudos and comments from others while they wait. If I'm going to be a snail, I should request Miss Marple!! I may not be the very worst recip, but at this rate I must be somewhere on the list: "requests stuff in super obscure fandom and then pleads lack of brain for not reading shiny novella when gifted."

Aw, I'm sure the author doesn't expect a speedy reaction to a long fic and it has chapters so hopefully the first one is a short one for you. I seem to have been attracted to all the fics where the recip has made a short perfunctory comment this year so I think you're nowhere near the bad recip pile!

Christmas was a bit rubbish, but I got lots of chocs and I did well on pressies! I can't remember the last time I had more brain at Xmas, usually all my creative plans for the season fall apart, but I've been spending my time writing/typing fic instead of being in a chocolate fog.

Very true and I'm not complaining!! But I know how nervewracking it is waiting and at this point, regardless of a placeholder comment, I would have decided that obv they hated it and that I might as well give up on everything forever, because I am a needy author.

Aw, sorry Christmas wasn't so great, but pressies and writing isn't bad. Nor is chocolate. <3
