(I'm doing them in posts, just to be different. And so I can waffle or have pics if I want. ;-p)

[personal profile] persiflage_1 asked for Top 5 Liz Shaw fics (your own or others - don't be shy about blowing your own trumpet!)

Okay, this was hard to narrow down enough without attempting to blow my own trumpet, so here goes, focusing mainly on Liz rather than on ships as such, and not necessarily in any actual order as such, because that's too hard:

1. House Guest by Gary Merchant (I like that what happens in this is the opposite way round to what you'd expect, it's nice.)
2. Memory by Persiflage (very sweet Eight and Liz, which Pers wrote for me ages ago)
3. The Man in the Brown Tweed Jacket by nonelvis (Liz and Twelve at a conference, it's great)
4. What a Woman Can Do by llywela (great little character study)
5. Going Home by phantomlistener (a gorgeous overview of Liz's life)

And since Pers did ask for me to blow my own trumpet, I think my favourite of my Liz stories is the first Silver/Liz one I did (which is very much more Liz than Silver) - Scientific Spirit (or Five Times Liz Shaw met Silver).

(I'll get to David Collings presently!!)

For [personal profile] scripsi Doctor Who episodes (or serials, presumably, I don't think I could be here going on about episode 3 of six). So, ignoring the fact that I still feel weird about DW right now:

1. Ghostlight
2. The Robots of Death
3. The Aztecs
4. The Eleventh Hour
5. The Happiness Patrol

*prepares to fight over Ghostlight and Happiness Patrol which are awesome*

[personal profile] john_amend_all wanted Crack pairings, and I'm not sure what even counts as a crack pairing and do they need to exist or just seem cool? Here goes, on the basis of mostly "I just thought of them and they could totally be a terrifying thing.

1. Silver/Any sufficiently intelligent artificial intelligence
2. Servalan/Palpatine (please appreciate that I nominated it for [community profile] space_swap, even though I am not getting it, because I've shaken my gift (it looks v shiny and much less scary). Like, what would happen? It would be amazing and terrifying.
3. Jenna/Steel (I kind of wrote this one, it was cool)
4. The Master/Servalan (bonus for Delgado or Missy)
5. Bill Potts/Kara Danvers (it would be very cute)

(Probably if I raided my 15 Characters tag, I could do better, but it'll do for today.)

He also asked for Female villains

1. Servalan (no surprises here)
2. Missy
3. Milady
4. Cora Mills
5. Cruella de Vil (OUaT version especially)

(I'd put Regina here, but tbh I definitely love her more when she's working on redemption, so I think she doesn't quite count. Even if she is also amazing when evil.)

Cruella de Vil (OUaT version especially)

May I ask how she differs from other versions?

All the ones you chose are good, but I'm definitely in your corner regarding these two. Both are very underrated, very interesting stories! And there's Ace! <3

I'm happy to be able to appreciate (most of) your Servalan-related answers this time around :) Servalan/Palpatine does indeed sound terrifying!

That is 100% true!

RoD would be in my top 5 DW serials too:D 'Happiness Patrol' is good and 'Ghostlight' is clever. 'The Aztecs' is my fave One serial.

Your crack pairings sound sensible to me;p

Some definite crossover between the two lists, I think, with Missy / Servalan. First one off the generator was:

376) Becoming the Prince's Wife - Rebecca Winters
A forbidden love…with a princess!
Attorney the Mistress keeps her cards close to her chest. But when a chance encounter with the handsome princess ignites a fiery attraction, Missy finds that she may just be the one woman she can trust….
Crown princess Servalan finds herself increasingly distracted from her duty by commoner Missy. But Servalan is playing with fire. To be with Missy she would have to sacrifice everything — including her right to the throne….
Princes of Europe
Torn between love and royal obligation…

and then there was this:

614) The Duke and the Pirate Queen – Victoria Janssen
Aboard her privateering ship, The Seaflower, Captain the Mistress is the law.
Ashore she answers only to her liege, Duchess Servalan. They are a powerful couple, with an intense attraction neither can disguise nor deny. As a noblewoman, Servalan is destined to wed strategically, so her seductive advances must be purely for pleasure. And what self-respecting pirate denies herself any pleasure? Their delicious dalliance is prolonged when Missy is forced to abduct Servalan to thwart a political plot against her.
At sea, with a stunningly buxom woman bound and held in her private quarters, Missy can imagine — and enact — any number of intoxicating scenarios. The heat between captain and captive is matched only by the perils that beset The Seaflower and her crew. Violent storms, marauding corsairs and life-or-death sex games on a desert island — how fortunate for the seemingly insatiable lovers that danger and desire go hand-in-hand.

and this...

380) If I Can't Let Go - Beth Kery
The moment Servalan first glimpsed the exotic beauty dancing across a moonlit beach, she was captivated. Until she realised it was the Mistress - the woman forcing her to confront the dark past they share…
Missy just wants to move on. She isn’t prepared for the passion that flares between them. And now her very future was in the hands of a woman who just might be able to heal her with her touch.…

... and I'd better stop clicking or I'll be here all night.

That last Seventh Doctor series was fantastic, which made the cancellation all the harder to bear. I liked Ghostlight, but there were a number of outstanding stories in that series, and I think I might put Battlefield top, not least for Jean Marsh's bravura performance.
