1. Liberator
2. The TARDIS
3. Star Bug (it's cute)
At this point, though I do like spaceships, I'm not sure I'm attached to any others in the same way?
4. Padme's ship in SW (it's really elegant, I like it)
5. Voyager, maybe? The Millennium Falcon? I don't know.

1. The Truth - Terry Pratchett (Discworld, generally, but that's my favourite of the series, probably)
2. PG Wodehouse (there's no point specifying, almost any Wodehouse will do, although I have a particular soft spot for Blandings)
3. The Tough Guide to Fantasyland - Diana Wynne Jones
4. High Rising - Angela Thirkell (made me laugh even while ill; it must be good)
5. Sprig Muslin - Georgette Heyer (Heyer's usually more low-level amusing/witty, but she does have some very funny set-pieces in quite a few of her novels, and the bit where everyone finally catches up with Gareth, Hester, Amanda and Hildebrand (and all their lies) at the inn is a very good one, with a few other smaller funny bits in the run up.)

A tough choice - TV is my medium at the moment, and, in terms of fandom at least, always has been:
1. Doctor Who (despite everything)
2. Public Eye (I was tempted to make it #1 because it probably deserves it, and also I don't like DW at the minute, but I didn't.)
3. Sapphire & Steel
4. Blake's 7
5. Spooks | MI5
But it is very hard to narrow it down only to five, and not even by category.

This question is a bit like the fruit one - #1 is G'kar, then everyone else, who I like pretty evenly. (More evenly than I like all non-banana fruit, though.) I shall try, however, but it is a bit arbitrary:
1. G'kar
2. Vir
3. Delenn
4. Londo
5. Susan

Date: 29 Mar 2020 01:00 pm (UTC)B5 is a hard one. So many great characters. On any other show, a character like Sheridan probably wouldn't appeal to me much, but I really liked him too. And Marcus of course. Susan's fab - and then of course all the non-humans, all being amazing despite all that latex! I think part of it is that we saw them go through such terrific character arcs. None of them were dead-weight.

Date: 29 Mar 2020 04:40 pm (UTC)I really do like everyone in B5! Apart from Byron, of course; that would be silly. But G'kar is definitely top. No matter how much I like everyone else, I can't be doing with that bit in S1 where they go for like five or seven whole episodes without him! But, yes, Marcus, and the original Na'toth, and Sheridan and Lyta and everyone.

The ship wouldn't count, but there were definitely aliens at the end of MCOG so the Golden Condor might actually be a spaceship! That'd certainly be a very good one. Either that, or it comes forever top in the Goldon Condor category.

You're right about the B5 character list -- the nonhuman characters win the prizes. I'm still convinced Ivanova and her suppressed telepathy were going to be a major part of the S5 Telepath War arc, and losing the character crippled that arc.

Date: 29 Mar 2020 07:22 pm (UTC)Yay, Discworld! Going Postal is my favorite, but The Truth is definitely one of the very good ones! (it's just that there are a LOT of them in this series)
And yay Tough Guide to Fantasyland, too :)

G'Kar as the top banana is a perfectly understandable answer :D (he's #2 for me after Londo, but it's very close). And in terms of the performance, I'd definigely put G'Kar/Andreas Katsulas at the top
It also makes a lot of sense for me that the list would be heavily skewed towards the aliens; mine definitely is, too, and I love Vir and Delenn (though over time I think I've actually gotten to where Lennier ranks above Delenn for me; but I choose to ignore season 5). Susan actually took a while to grow on me, but I do like her a lot at this point.
(To the spaceships discussion upthread, while I love how different all the spaceships are from each other on B5, and how they seem to fit the aesthetic of the races, I don't have a favorite meaningful ship. I never particularly bonded with the White Star, and as for the others, I like the names of the Earth ships a lot -- the Agamemnon is a great warship name (I realize not unique to B5, even in sci-fi, and there's actually a real US naval ship and probably others with that time), and I'm very fond of the cheerful green sphere that's the luxury liner Asimov :D Also, that alien race that has flying saucers, because that was a great low-key running gag.)

This made me laugh a lot. Also I think somehow G'kar would be totally okay with being top banana.
Also, that alien race that has flying saucers, because that was a great low-key running gag.
Oh, yes, that is pretty amusing!
