Challenge #8: In your own space, create a wishlist.

Well, if I were perfectly honest, I would just wish for more things related to James Maxwell - fanworks, people watching my old telly things with him, and people finding or releasing more things with him in so that I don't run out just yet. (Once I manage to watch One Day in the Life... that is it! And I don't know how to find someone else who somehow works like magic when everything is flat and terrible and unreal.) But people already do all they can in that line, so I will try to be more realistic.

1. Some more people to join in again at [community profile] rainbowfic. It is a very lovely origfic comm, where you work your way through prompt sets, like we used to have lots of for fanfic. (It was based on Runaway Tales from LJ.) You can use it as a place to tell your story in installments or for playing around in the canon and worldbuilding or fanficcing it, in a way - whatever works for you. There are usually monthly writing games as well. It's all very friendly and fun, but it's getting dangerously quiet at the moment and I would be gutted to lose it. I'm sure there must be other people out there who would enjoy it as well and maybe mentioning it during Snowflake will lure someone over, who knows?

2. If you have any lost TV lurking in your attic that contains James Maxwell, you should send it to the BFI. Have you checked? And down the back of the sofa? Everywhere? You never know! (I said I'd try to be more realistic; I didn't say I'd succeed every time!) Would not say no to any more fanworks, either. ;-p

3. There should always be more Sapphire & Steel things and I love new elements! I would be very excited to know that someone used my series of graphics of potential/mentioned other elements to actually make a thing! (Whether the write up inspired a totally different take or someone ran with my casting, however vaguely - either would be wonderful.) I think that would be very cool indeed. If anyone wrote 'my' Copper that could combine wishes 2 & 3 even...

You've probably seen this already, but I was supposed to be Doing Things the other day, and naturally got to playing with the newspaper archive thingy instead, and one thing led to another, and here:

Also this one about "The Road", which is a bit small, sorry about that:

Oh yes, of course I did. That explains why I couldn't find it again in the newspaper archive, to see if I could make it bigger! It came off a cult TV site.

Some other bits here, which again you might have seen, but worth a shot! (Dodgy facial hair ahoy!)

I have looked at that comm a few times, and honestly? It's the idea of posting the full body of work AT the comm that keeps throwing me out. Just as I don't post my fanfic on my DW other than a header with link, I don't like having my original work on separate places.

It's such a small thing but it is how my brain works. Part of it is wanting comments all in one place, part is remembering losing fics that were posted solely to comms, and part of it is just that block in my brain that says "Organizational Rules"

Thank you for sharing your wishlist. I'm afraid to say I wasn't familiar with James Maxwell, I had to google him and then the first hit was for a Scottish scientist! It looks like he had a wonderful stage career as well as appearing on screen.

I do hope that your wishes are fulfilled and especially that you find some more interest in the comm. One of the things I keep reading in this challenge is that people are sad that there aren't as many comms and they miss the interaction so it would be sad to lose another one.

Thank you for sharing :)

Okay ...

>>1. Some more people to join in again at [community profile] rainbowfic. <<

I have boosted the signal. I really liked the prompts, but the requirement to finish a list -- especially have everything posted -- didn't fit at all well with my writing style. (I do crowdfunding, so it can be a while between writing and posting.) But for some people I think it would be a great fit.

Hmm ... are you into bingo fests at all?

[community profile] allbingo is a high-inspiration, low-pressure community. It welcomes all fandoms and original work, all sizes and media. It hosts monthly fests on different themes. January is on Fresh Starts.

I'm thinking that if you ran a bingo fest using [community profile] rainbowlists prompts, then that might entice some folks to join your comm.

You could also go here:

[community profile] crowdfunding is a community for creators, fans, and patrons of cyberfunded creativity. It hosts a mid-month Creative Jam on different themes; January 16-17 will be on "Darkness and Light." Currently running, the Rose and Bay Awards honor excellence in crowdfunded projects and patrons.

With the Creative Jam running this weekend, just drop a comment pointing people to [community profile] rainbowlists and encouraging them to use color prompts and join your community.

I like networking across different communities because it promotes activity and helps people find what they like.

More often than not, mods would prefer a community be more active than less active, and thus like it when members promote it. You could ask them if it's okay to boost Rainbow over on [community profile] allbingo in hopes of attracting more participants.

You've attracted my attention. I shall give it a look-see, and probably make an introduction post sometime this week.
