Oh, no, not another meme!
May. 27th, 2009 08:48 pmBelatedly, and against my better judgement, I've decided to run with this meme, taken from both
clocketpatchand
jjpor. (After all, I did make requests of both of them...)
Give me two characters from different fandoms you know I'm familiar with, and I'll give you a dialogue happening between the two of them. Without justifying how the crossover would work, how their worlds clashed or how they could even meet each other. Just a silly crossover conversation with no backstory, for fun.
For something like this, I'm willing to do almost anything I've seen/read reasonably often or at least retain some definite memory of. (It's a long story, but I've attempted more insane things elsewhere, for characters I know NOTHING about... And got away with it, too. *blushes*)
So, here goes, but anything I've mentioned here before is fair game.
Doctor Who (pretty much any)
Spooks
Buffy & Angel
X-Files
ST - but only Voyager, I'm afraid.
Carry On films
Allo Allo
Dungeons & Dragons (The cartoon!)
The Mummy
Gosford Park
Love Actually
Red Dwarf
The Brittas Empire
On The Up
Poirot & Miss Marple
New Tricks
Life on Mars & Ashes to Ashes
Chalet School series
Diana Wynne Jones (well, I'd have a stab)
Anne Perry books
I know Discworld, but I'm feeling wimpish about making the attempt...
...But for the moment at any rate, I can get away with Blandings (PG Wodehouse) &, so I'd have a stab at Jeeves and Wooster, too.
Georgette Heyer
Harry Potter
Press Gang
Wilkie Collins (esp. The Moonstone & The Woman in White)
Jane Austen
Charlotte Bronte
I have read / read an awful lot of 'classics', plus for work-reasons, I read a huge amount of teen and children's books, so try me if you think of something.
While You Were Sleeping
Hmm, Ive already done one crossover with The Two Ronnies, so I suppose that should go in here, too...
Star Wars
Adrian Plass
I Capture The Castle
Fairy tales
I think that's more than enough bizarre things, isn't it? Let's hope it hasn't scared everyone away!!!
*wonders if I will regret this*

Date: 2009-05-27 08:29 pm (UTC)Or you could just do that one where Four, Harry and Sarah Jane turn up for Genesis of the Daleks, only to find themselves confronted by Herr Leutnant Gruber from 'Allo 'Allo... XD

Date: 2009-05-27 08:32 pm (UTC)Should we just rename this meme 'Rimmer-fest'?
I'll do my best. I make no promises as to quite how and when, though.

Date: 2009-05-30 07:15 pm (UTC)So I saw. I've been reading more of the Ten Doctors comic so I haven't looked at it yet, but I got the email notif. Going to go and read it now.
Not the Ideal Patient...
Date: 2009-06-15 03:56 pm (UTC)***
“Jones,” said Dr Reynolds, the consultant. “You’re not the type to be ridiculous about some aging pop star, are you? Not likely to swoon or ask for autographs?”
She bit back a curious smile. “No, sir.”
“Right, then, you can assist me. Patient is in the private room – Billy Mack.”
She frowned and dredged up a memory of a novelty Christmas single that had somehow made it to number one despite all the odds and a complete lack of any taste.
“He’s -,” the doctor began, then shrugged to himself, and lowered his tone to explain in her ear.
Martha raised her eyebrows. “Really?”
“Try to keep a straight face,” he advised. “Get on in there, tell him I’ll be along in a minute and he’s not to go anywhere. Shouldn’t think he’d try, considering, but still.”
She nodded and headed off to the private room as directed. She surveyed the patient lying in front of her. “Morning, sir. Now how did you get yourself into this mess?”
He lifted his head and opened his mouth, then caught her eye and abandoned his reply. “Don’t ask.”
“Yeah,” she said ruefully. “I was just thinking I probably didn't want to know.”
He sniffed. “Well, where’s the sawbones gone?”
“Dr Reynolds will be here shortly,” she said, deciding it wasn’t worth pointing out that had she not still been a few months short finishing her training, she might have been the doctor herself. “You lie still and it’ll soon be over.”
He glared at her.
It was hard to keep a straight face, but Martha managed.
“I suppose you’re going to tell me it’s not going to hurt, either?” he demanded.
She smiled then. “I’m not making any reckless promises, sir.”
“Hark at Miss Prim and Proper. You sound like you could do a spot of being reckless. Everyone should do something really stupid now and then.” He grinned.
Martha said, “Something really stupid? Yeah, I can see you’re the expert there.”
A brief encounter, one that made her giggle at the memory, but he wasn’t the last strange patient who dealt in flouting convention and being reckless. Funny, really.
