May. 24th, 2013 01:42 pmHappy birthday to
sallymn! I hope you have/had a lovely day and many happy returns! I've been working on these icons for a while, but decided to finish them today in your honour, knowing that you like icons, quotes and Ms Heyer's works. ;-)

Date: 2013-05-24 07:17 pm (UTC)Thanks. i can't resist icons like that. They may not be useful, but they are amusing in their own right, so, that's okay.

Date: 2013-05-24 07:16 pm (UTC)I may have a memory stick with lots of icons on - those I've made, those that were so pretty... far too many to use at once, but handy to go back to when I need a change.
I see your resolve-face, though, yes.

Date: 2013-05-25 03:54 pm (UTC)And she wrote a lot of Regency romantic comedies, which is what these are from. They're old now (last century!), but one of my comfort reads - very light and witty.

Date: 2013-05-25 03:55 pm (UTC)I was trying to think whether there was anything I could do, and remembered that these were approaching sufficient numbers to be a batch, so worked on finishing them in time. And, yes, she did indeed - very easy to find potential icon material!
I hope you had a wonderful day!

Date: 2013-05-29 01:32 pm (UTC)They make me want to try some of Heyer's books! I checked her wiki page, but she wrote so many, I'm not sure where to start XD Which one(s) would you recommand for a newbie? ♥

Date: 2013-05-29 07:05 pm (UTC)And obviously I don't know what sorts of things you tend to like, but these are all from her historical comedies, which I prefer to her detective books and her few straight historical novels. I also find that books written towards the middle (late 30s-early 60s) tend to be the better ones, but it's all down to individual taste, really.
Anyway, if you want a place to start, these are some of my favourites - Cotillion, The Grand Sophy, Frederica, Arabella, The Talisman Ring, Friday's Child, The Corinthian, The Quiet Gentleman, Sylvester, Sprig Muslin & The Unknown Ajax. I hope that helps!
